Event Alert: Carmelo Anthony, LeBron, Durant, Chris Paul & More Coming to the Palestra!

While the NBA player's association and owners negotiate the next collective bargaining agreement, a star-studded basketball game has been arranged -- Team Melo vs. Team Philly -- for later this month at The Palestra on the UPENN campus.

The game has been appropaitely titled the Battle for i-95. The game is set for Sunday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. Tickets will be $35 for 200-level seats and $50 for 100-level seats. Tickets will be available online and at the Palestra box office starting today.

Rahim Thompson, who in 2002 founded a basketball league in Philly called "The Chosen League", organized the event and released the details on his Twitter account, @RTChosenLeague.

Team Melo will, obviously, be headlined by New York Knicks' star Carmelo Anthony. Other players on Team Melo include the Memphis Grizzlies' Josh Selby, the Sacramento Kings' Donte Green, the San Antonio Spurs' Gary Neal, the Los Angeles Clippers' Eric Bledsoe, and other surprise guests (according to Thompson).
Team Philly will include 76ers' combo guard Lou Williams, the Phoenix Suns' Hakim Warrick, the Kings' Jason Thompson, the Suns' Markieff Morris, the Houston Rockets' Marcus Morris, the Kings' John Salmons, the Minnesota Timberwolves' Wayne Ellington, Flip Murray, and Aaron Owens. The lineup now also includes LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant -- four of basketball's biggest names (including Anthony) will be playing in Philly in two weeks!

All summer, NBA players have stayed active playing in different leagues and charity games around the country, from Los Angeles to Baltimore to New York City. This will be the first "blockbuster" game staged in Philly, and it's possible that other star players could be added to the Team Melo side in the next two weeks.

The game will be broadcasted on the web on The Basketball Channel.

Which side are you on??
