M.C.I.C. Hosts 7th Annual Family Day Festival with Naughty by Nature, Slick Rick, Kwame, & Chubb Rock

Philadelphia, PA – The Mantua Community Improvement Committee (M.C.I.C.) will be celebrating their 7th Annual Family Day Festival on Saturday, September 10th from noon to 7 p.m. at the intersection of 34th Street and Mantua Avenue. The event had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Irene.

While violence and flash mobs in Philadelphia riddle headlines locally and nationwide, M.C.I.C.’s Family Day Festival sets forth to celebrate the positivity that exists deep within Philadelphian communities. Members of the community, including youth, families, politicians and businessmen, will be encouraged to sign M.C.I.C.’s “Positivity Pledge,” which highlights a person’s commitment to focusing on youth support in homes, communities and schools.

This year's festival will feature an old school concert with headliners – Naughty by Nature, Slick Rick, Chubb Rock, and Kwame.

Last year, we spoke with Sabrina Ram of Blu Lotus Public Relations about her big plans for the Philly entertainment scene. It's excellent to hear that she is doing exactly what she said she was going to do-- "...to help make Philadelphia into the entertainment industry powerhouse it’s meant to be."

"This is a wonderful annual event I am proud to be involved with," said Sabrina Ram of Blu Lotus Public Relations. "Fusing together Philadelphia community events with the city's vibrant entertainment scene really puts Philly on the map in such a positive way."

The Family Day Festival is also loaded with activities the whole family can enjoy – carnival rides, moon bouncers, games, clowns, horse riding, line dancing, face painting and local food vendors.
