Jay-Z Annouces That He Will Be First Solo Hip Hop Act To Perform At Carnegie Hall

In a press conference held earlier today with his Shawn Cater Scholarship Foundation and United Way, Jay-Z announced that he will play two solo shows at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Hov had this to say:

"Its every artists dream to play a venue as legendary as Carnegie Hall. The fact that I can use the arts and my talent to benefit the education of the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and great thinkers makes for a legendary night. I’m proud to be a part of the continuing work of United Way of New York City and expanding the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.”

As for surprise guests? Jay said his new thing is not having any surprises, since these days, he said, "it's almost expected."  He added, "There's no guests on Watch the Throne, maybe no guests on this, and then the next time there are guests, you'll be surprised!"

Private ticket packages for Jay-Z's Carnegie Hall shows go on sale Monday, and a limited number of single tickets will be offered to the public on Monday, January 30.   Ticket prices will range from $2500 to $500 apiece, but there may be some lower-priced tickets released in January.  The goal, said organizers, is to raise as much money as possible
